The Reverend Marguerite Sheehan

Rev. Marguerite Sheehan began serving the Unitarian Universalist Church of Winchendon in December 2008. She continues to serve the First Parish of Northfield where she has been the parish minister since July 2007.

Previously she was an interfaith hospice chaplain for Allegiance Hospice in Springfield MA and the intern minister at First Church Leominster. Rev.Marguerite also served as the sabbatical minister for the Harvard Unitarian Universalist Church. Presently she is the treasurer for the Greenfield Interfaith Council and is a member of the board of the Winchendon Community Action Committee as well as a member of the Winchendon Clergy Association.

Our Minister

Previous to her calling as a Unitarian Universalist minister Rev.Marguerite worked for many years as an early childhood educator and as the supervisor of an early intervention team of professionals supporting families with babies and toddlers with special needs. She brings this love for children and experience with families into her ministry with our church, incorporating a Story for All Ages into our Sunday worship and working with our Religious Education Committee in creating multigenerational worship services.

Reverend Marguerite brings to her ministry a long career working with people of all backgrounds and all ages, a love of preaching the good news of Unitarian Universalism, and a commitment to social and racial justice and hospitality. Her welcome table is open to all!

Reverend Marguerite attended Andover Newton Theological School where she graduated with a Masters in Divinity. She was ordained by the First Church of Leominster. She lives in Amherst Massachusetts with her spouse Dorrie. Together they provide home care for an adult with developmental disabilities.

"I am thrilled to be serving this historic church in Winchendon. I can concur that the church is of the open mind, the loving heart, the helping hands and the caring community. Please come and visit. Bring your children and your friends. You will be welcomed with open arms."
